Mexico’s Cultural sites
The México cultural richness is not only in the archaeological
site or museums, those are just a part of a many forms of expression. We can
find the folkloric dance in different social events like festivities. Those
dances differentiate between each other because their place of origin, Mexico
has a lot of European and indigenous reminiscences. The mexican dances are joyful and colorful in
complement with regional costume that dancers use and the musicians who perform
live music.
Then we show you the typical folklore dances from Mexico.

Jarabe Tapatío
The jarabe tapatío is considered a
national dance. It arise at the end of the 19th century in the Jalisco state
and it is performed with the “zapateado” step. Accompanied by mariachi music
and dancers that wears typical national costumes, the men wear the charro
costume and the women wear the china poblana.

Huapango
The huapango is typical in states
like Veracruz, Puebla , San Luis Potosí and Hidalgo. It's varieties depend on
the sections of the state. The most known is the veracruzano. It is danced over
wood platform, the dancers get dressed with the typical costume which consists
of a guayabera and a white trousers, the women wear a white blouse and skirt.
The music is performed by three musicians with the violin and two types of
guitars known as jarana and huapanguera.

Danza de los viejitos
It is one of the most folkloric and
funniest dances from Mexico. It comes from Michoacan state, the dancers wear a
wooden mask which looks like an old person with a stick and the purepecha
typical costume with trousers and a white t-shirt (of manta). It's accompanied
by musicians with violins and guitars.

Danza del Venado
It is originated in the
prehistorical age. It belongs to the indigenous culture “yaqui” in Sonora
state. The symbolic context of the dance relates to the deer hunting. The
dances narrates the haunting of a deer. The three principal characters are the
deer, el “pascola” (‘old man of the ceremony’, pahko ceremony +o’ola old man) and
coyote. The music is performed by native instruments and the dancers wear their
costume according to each character.

Danza de la pluma
This dance is considered the most
representative of Oaxaca. This dance is the remembrance of the Spaniards’
conquest, it involves different historical moments that marked the encounter
between the aztecs and Spaniards. The Dance of the Feather is the main
performance in the Guelaguetza Festival which is characterized by the dancers
who wear penachos and accessories that symbolize the evangelization over the
indigenous

Polka norteña
This dance is representative of
northen states like Tamaulipas, Chihuahua and Nuevo León. The predominant
instrument for this dance is the accordion

Jarana Yucateca
It's the regional dance of the
península of Yucatán. The characteristics aspects of this dance is the dancers
skills to support the objects on their heads. They wear the typical Yucatecan
costumes, the women wear the huipil which has some flowers in it. The men wear
the guayabera and a white trousers. The music is performed by a band of
musicians called “Charanga”
